2020-21 and 2021-22 Combined

Sports Premium Grant of £35,010 was used to both enhance PE and sports teaching as well as to install a MUGA on the KS2 side of the school site. This has been used extensively for PE lessons, as well as break and lunch-time sports activities on a class rota basis, such as basketball, football and hockey. Specialist teaching was bought in from Premier Sports in the summer term 2021 and a brand new PE Curriculum was subscribed to from September.

2022-23 and 2023-24 Combined

The next two years of Sports Premium Grant will be combined to further develop our sports facilities and teaching on the KS2 side. The work on a table tennis zone will commence in the summer of 2023. This will be combined with specialist sports teaching to maximise the impact of the development. Planned expenditure to date is as follows:

Impact on Pupil's PE, Sports Participation and attainment

The addition of the MUGA has greatly enhanced pupil's active participation in sports at lunchtime.  We have limited hardstanding in KS2 during the winter months when the field is unable to be used and the MUGA means that ball games are now played all year round.

Spending on specialist PE teaching has meant that our pupils have had access to experts in sports and PE which has overall raised attainment as well as broadening the curriculum.  Using Premier Sports Coaches has enabled pupils to take part in a wider range of sports than the school would otherwise have been able to offer.

The MUGA is obviously a long-term investment which will see the quality of PE provision enhanced and supported many years into the future.

Impact of the School's curriculum swimming lessons 2021-22

At the end of 2021-22 academic year, our year 4 class had the following competencies:

  • swim competently, confidently, and proficiently over a distance of at least 25 metres: 44% or 12/ 27 children
  • use a range of strokes effectively (for example front crawl, backstroke and breaststroke: 70% or 19/27 children
  • perform safe self-rescue in different water-based situations: 100% 27/27 children
